Transparency International Rwanda (TI-Rwanda) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 2004. It serves as the Rwandan chapter of the global Transparency International movement, dedicated to combating corruption and promoting good governance through the enhancement of integrity within Rwandan society.

Organizational Structure and Leadership
TI-Rwanda is headquartered in Kigali, with offices in all four provinces of the country. The organization is led by Executive Director Apollinaire Mupiganyi and chaired by Marie Immaculée Ingabire, a prominent feminist and human rights activist in Rwanda. Under her leadership, TI-Rwanda was recognized in 2012 by the Rwanda Governance Board for its initiatives promoting good governance.

TI-Rwanda’s work is guided by its Strategic Plan (2020–2024), which focuses on the following thematic clusters:

Research and Publications: Conducting studies such as the annual Rwanda Bribery Index (RBI) and assessments of corruption in various sectors.

Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre (ALAC): Providing free legal advice to victims and witnesses of corruption.

Public Engagement Tools: Implementing tools like IFATE (an online corruption reporting platform), social audits, and suggestion boxes to collect evidence and promote citizen participation.
Impact and Recognition
In the 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), Rwanda achieved a score of 53%, an improvement from 51% in 2022. This positioned Rwanda as the fourth least corrupt country in Sub-Saharan Africa and the top in East Africa, ranking 49th globally.
Collaboration and Compliance
TI-Rwanda collaborates with national bodies such as the Office of the Ombudsman and the Rwanda Public Prosecution Authority. It is actively involved in aligning national anti-corruption laws with international standards, including the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).
