About Company

The Rwanda Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RSOG) is a professional organization dedicated to enhancing women’s health in Rwanda through excellence in clinical practice, education, research, and advocacy in obstetrics and gynecology. Established in 2015 under Ministerial Order N°04/08.11 of 09/01/2012, RSOG operates as a nonprofit organization headquartered in Kigali.

Mission and Objectives

RSOG’s mission is to improve women’s health in Rwanda by:

  • Promoting excellence in clinical practice, training, and research in obstetrics and gynecology.

  • Supporting continuous professional development and upholding high ethical standards.

  • Representing the discipline nationally, regionally, and internationally.

Key Activities

1. Annual Scientific Conferences

RSOG organizes annual scientific conferences to foster knowledge exchange and professional development. The 11th Annual Scientific Conference is scheduled for August 28–29, 2025, at the Kigali Convention Center, with the theme: “Transforming Women’s Health: Promoting Equity and Sustainability.”

2. Residency Training Expansion

In collaboration with the University of Rwanda, RSOG has launched a project to expand obstetrics and gynecology residency training programs in ten Level II teaching hospitals across the country. This initiative aims to increase the number of qualified OB-GYNs and enhance maternal health services nationwide.

3. Safe Abortion Advocacy

RSOG has been at the forefront of advocating for safe, accessible abortion care in Rwanda. Following the successful completion of the Advocating for Safe Abortion (ASA) project, RSOG continues to lead initiatives such as the Values Clarification and Attitude Transformation (VCAT) program and onsite district orientation trainings to improve abortion care services.

4. Collaborations and Partnerships

RSOG collaborates with various international organizations, including the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) and the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC), to provide training and improve reproductive health services in Rwanda.
